Healthy Families Program
Here at Pea Pod we firmly believe that lifestyle related prevention programs are one of the foundations that healthy communities are built on. From infants receiving the very first food in the form of milk at birth, to starting their first solid food at 6 months all the way through childhood, adolescence and into adulthood – every stage of life presents us with another opportunity to prevent lifestyle related chronic diseases.
As the name implies, the Healthy Families Program focuses on the family as a holistic unit. We work with every member of the household to reach their collective nutrition and health goals. To qualify for the Healthy Families Program families must have at least one child at nutrition risk living in the home as well as at least one adult who is obese, physically inactive or has a lifestyle related chronic disease. Additionally, there are income guidelines for acceptance in the program.
Through the Healthy Families Program we provide:
- Family Centered one-on-one and group nutrition consults
- Cooking Classes through our Let’s Get Cooking Program
- Walking/Movement based support groups through the On The Move! Program
- Breastfeeding classes and consultations
- SOS Feeding Therapy
The Healthy Families Program is currently accepting applications. To see if you qualify for Pea Pod’s programs check our Income Eligibility Guidelines and fill out the Pea Pod Assistance Program Application.
