How did you decide to choose your current career path?

I developed a real interest in health and overall wellness in high school while playing soccer at a competitive level. This interest quickly evolved into a passion when I became a collegiate athlete and started to learn how to eat and train to improve my athletic performance. Although I have always been interested in nutrition, my college did not have a nutrition major available to students. I knew my ultimate goal was to help people, so I graduated with my undergraduate degree in general psychology in 2020. After entering the workforce as a registration representative at a hospital and later on as a flight attendant for Delta Airlines, I knew that I wanted to do more in my career. I kept re-visiting my passion for nutrition and knew that I wanted to help people achieve real health and well-being. When I stumbled upon the virtual M.S. in Nutrition Sciences at UAB on one of my work trips, I was immediately intrigued. I started doing intensive research on what a dietitian is and what their work entails, and knew it was the right career path for me. This feeling only solidified after spending my off days shadowing a dietitian in my area. Watching individuals with chronic health conditions learn how to eat and care for their bodies in a way that alleviates their symptoms and helps them take their health back into their own hands was incredible to me, and I knew it was what I wanted to do too!

If you were on a deserted island and could uber eats one meal to you for the rest of your life. What would it be?

I would have to say the "Capricciosa" pizza from Antico Pizza. It is my ultimate comfort food!

Who is your favorite social media influencer right now and why?

My favorite social media influencer right now is probably Ilona Maher! I became a huge fan of hers after watching the US Women's Rugby Team in the 2024 Olympics. Not only is she an amazing athlete, but she also promotes body positivity in a really healthy way and constantly reminds her followers that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. I also think she is one of the funniest people on the internet!
